Bachelor of Science Physiotherapy (Honours)

Originally from England, Kirsten graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg, South Africa in 1995 with a B.Sc. Honours degree in Physiotherapy.

In 1997 she obtained a post graduate diploma in Sports Physiotherapy from Manchester Metropolitan University, England. Prior to moving to Newcastle in 2004 Kirsten worked in England, South Africa and Sydney.

Kirsten was first introduced to Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy when working in London in 1999 but it was only after becoming a mother herself in 2002 that her interest truly shifted from working with sports teams to Women’s Health Physiotherapy and Pilates, with a focus on helping women prevent, manage and reduce musculoskeletal pain and injuries as well as pelvic floor conditions that are common during pregnancy and postpartum.

Kirsten is a proud mother of two. She is passionate about empowering women to prepare, recover and restore their bodies during the child bearing year and beyond.

During pregnancy Physiotherapy can help you to prepare your body and mind for childbirth with a combination of hands-on manual therapy, education and exercise. Supporting you to prepare for the birth of your choice.

Every pregnancy, birth and recovery is unique. Kirsten will guide you through your recovery from birth creating an individual rehabilitation program to help you to return to the activities and sports that you love.

Kirsten holds a Diploma in Pilates and is a member of the Australian Pilates method association (APMA).

Having completed Pilates training through Tensegrity, Polestar, Clinical Pilates, The Australian Fitness Network and The Centre for Women’s Fitness. Kirsten draws on her Pilates Knowledge as an adjunct to her physiotherapy treatments.

She is also a certified Infant Massage Instructor and is loves teaching parents how to massage their baby.

Available for consultation on Wednesdays for Musculoskeletal and Pelvic floor Physiotherapy, Post Natal check-ups, Exercise and Rehabilitation programs.
